IUD Information

It is said that there are more testimonials of women gaining weight compared to losing it when using the birth control system. In another related study conducted by the Oregon National Primate Research Center located at the Oregon Health and Science University, a group of monkeys was given different forms of birth control. The result showed that the monkeys with normal weight did not have a significant change in weight after they were given the birth control system. The obese monkeys, according to the result, did lose weight.

According to medical research, a woman usually loses or gain weight when using a birth control system because of the substance called estrogen. Weight loss with Mirena is still considered a myth that has not been proven by any related medical facts and studies. The manufacturer of Mirena has listed as part of the possible effect of the birth control system is losing or gaining weight.

Besides the normal side effects like spotting and cramping and low sex drive, I didn't really have any other issues. I didn't gain any weight. However, I still had baby weight to lose. So, I got to work. I started a strict calorie diet.

Cut out fried food, fast food and soda. Started drinking more water, and worked out every morning for no less than an hour and a half. I have also been training for a 10k that one have coming up on Saterday. I have been doing this for 4 months now. Y'all, I have not lost a single pound!! Not one!! I have read that the inability to lose weight was a very common complaint of women who use the mirena.

I am going to get it out, either way. Because I am tired of working so hard and not seeing any results. And I'm even more frustrated that my husband is not supporting me, but I'm not going to make this into a relationship issue. Any one else have any similar issues with the mirena?
