Evergreen Candytuft

The Sunflower Mammoth Grey Stripe, 'Helianthus annuus', displays flowers that are 1 foot across. Enjoy their cheery faces following the sun and providing birds with fall fare. Mammoth Grey Stripes have a number of features to interest anyone. Edible seeds attract many birds during fall, if you do not eat them yourself. Because of its ease to germinate and very fast rate of growth, it is a great seed for kids to plant and watch grow. It is an excellent summer and fall annual screen or border.

The Candytuft Evergreen, 'Iberis sempervirens', has beautiful pure white flowers that cover this evergreen ground cover in the spring. Native to Europe, Candytuft has been used for centuries as an edging or border between lawns and taller plantings. The flat heads or clusters of stunning pure white, four-petaled flowers are on stems that are long enough to use in cut flower arrangements. Candytufts are excellent in pots, containers, rock gardens and as a small scale ground cover.

The Knautia Burgundy Wine, 'Knautia macedonica', has brilliant burgundy to crimson-red pincushions on long stems. Create a sense of drama and mystery in your garden with "see-through" plants. These medium-tall plants in the front or middle of a bed will entice the viewer without completely obscuring the view beyond. Plant in early spring, 2 to 4 weeks before last average frost date. The Burgundy Wines are great for cottage gardens, borders, and meadows. They also will attract butterflies.

The Grass Bunny Tails, 'Lagurus ovatus', is wonderful for flower arrangements. The furry flowers are practically shatter-proof. Kids love the flower heads. Bunny Tails forms an upright fountain of charming soft and fluffy flower heads that are as soft as an actual bunny tail. The 2 inch long flower head are dense, pale and feathery. Plant in the spring, 3 weeks before the last average frost date. Spray the flowers with florist dye to create any color you want. This plant is used for a tall, grassy groundcover.

The Sweet Pea Cupid Pink, 'Lathyrus adoratus', is a dwarf Sweet pea. The compact plants are covered with masses of pink and white bicolored flowers that are ideal for hanging baskets and patio planters. For striking color combinations, try Cupid Pink with burgundy-foliage plants such as coleus, sweet potato vine, or hyacinth bean vine. The small bicolored flowers are slightly fragrant. In warm climates, plant in October through January for spring bloom. They are used for cut flowers, and ground cover.

The Sweet Pea Old Spice Blend, 'Lathyrus odoratus', exhibits a mixture of old heirloom sweet pea varieties. The Old Spice Blend displays a mixture of white, cream, pink, rose, scarlet, lavender, purple, bicolors, and striped flowers.
