Dwarf Goblin Gaillardia

The Coreopsis Double Sunburst, 'Coreopsis lanceolata', is very easy to grow and it has a long blooming period. Coreopsis are quick to come up, early to bloom, and "free flowering", meaning they bloom until first frost. They are relatively drought tolerant and it is a great plant for the wildflower patch. The semi-double yellow flowers are 2 to 3 inches across and are set on slender wiry stems. It is excellent for naturalized areas and rock gardens. The flowers make excellent long-lasting dried flowers.

The Cosmos Sensation Blend,' Cosmos bipinnatus', is just what its name implies, a sensation. The Sensation Blend is a tall, colorful, wild, cheerful plant that blooms all summer. This Cosmos is tall and covered with large 3 to 4 inch white, pink, rose, and crimson flowers. Cosmos begin blooming 10 weeks after seeding and bloom from summer to first fall frost. They are excellent colorful bedding plants for low maintenance, dry areas and are great for cut flowers. They attract hummingbirds and butterflies.

The Datura Angel's Trumpet, 'Datura meteloides', has fragrant and showy flowers that open late in the day to enhance the evening garden. If your time only allows you to enjoy an evening garden, then the Datua is the plant. The pale blooms will glow well into the twilight and their scent is heavenly. The flowers are 6 inches long, trumpet-shaped and white in color, tinged with lilac. Take advantage of the heavenly fragrance by planting the Datura close to a window. Note: All parts of this plant are poisonous.

The Gaillardia Goblin, 'Gaillardia grandiflora', is commonly called Blanket Flower. The Goblin is a dwarf Gaillardia that is easy to grow and blooms continuously. This compact plant is perfect for the front of the border. The semi-double flowers are 3 inches wide and are a deep red with wide gold edges. Plant in the spring as soon as the soil can be worked or in the summer/early fall, or at least 2 months before first fall frost. Goblins are used in low borders, rock gardens and in hot dry locations.
