The Montbretia Lucifer, 'Crocosmia 'Lucifer’, is one of the newest Crocosmi’s on the market today. Its bright, flame-red flowers stand out from the rest. Being the hardiest members of its genus, the sword-shaped foliage adds to any landscape. ‘Lucifer’ has a plant height of 36-42” and a plant spread of 30-36”. It does need a well drained site and full sun, but will tolerate morning shade. ‘Lucifer’ blooms in late summer to early fall, June through August. Try it as cut flowers or as a border plant in your perennial garden and it is also a major attractor to butterflies.

The Chelone ‘Pink Turtlehead’, Chelone obliqua, is a deep carmine pink wildflower that resembles snapdragons and heads of turtles. The dark green foliage makes ‘Pink Turtlehead’ beautiful all year long. The flowers bloom from mind summer to early fall, with a plant height of 3’ and a spread of 18-24”. This low maintenance perennial is highly pest resistant and will look great under a tree canopy or in a colorful perennial bed. Try ‘Pink Turtlehead’ with Echinacea Coneflower ‘White Swan’ or Physostegia ‘Miss Manners’.

The Delosperma ‘Hardy Ice Plant’, Delosperma cooperi, is a wonderful ground cover that has single, deep rose to purple blooms. The foliage, said to make this plant a real winner, is deep green, almost succulent looking and extremely shinny. Delosperma has a plant spread of 12-24” and a height of 4”. Hot conditions keep the flowers blooming most of the summer and it requires little to no care. Delosperma looks great as a ground cover in a rock garden or in front of a perennial border.
