The Geum Blazing Sunset, 'Geum flore plena', produces prolific scarlet, double flowers that are shaped like small roses. Its fresh green, fuzzy foliage makes it different from the rest. With a plant height of 2’ and a spread of 12-18”, this is a highly valued plant. ‘Blazing Sunset’ has a long blooming season, from May to September, and is easy to care for. It is a perfect addition to any cottage garden and makes a wonderful combination with bright yellows, gold’s and true blues (like Delphiniums, Salvias), for borders and mass plantings and for cuttings.

The Helipsos 'Summer Sun Sunflower', Heliopsis helianthiodes, is a great combination of large, orange-yellow flowers with dark green foliage. Blooming from July till frost, this Heliopsis grows to 4’ tall with a plant spread of 18-24”. This easy to grow perennial attracts butterflies and is deer resistant. A wonderful addition to island beds or in the back or borders or as cut flowers. ‘Summer Sun Sunflower’ may be slow to appear in the spring, but the blooms persist long after other perennials have completed their show.

The Daisy 'Shasta' Leucanthemum ‘Becky Daisy’, leucanthemum superbum, is the longest blooming daisy in the Leucanthemum family. With bright, large, white beautiful flowers held above its dark green foliage, it has a plant height of 3’ and a plant spread of 18-24”. Being Perennial of the Year in 2003, one can see why. It also is great for formal and informal gardens, as cut flowers, in mass plantings or in the perennial border. This low maintenance perennial is great for first time gardeners.

The Liatris ‘Kobold Gayfeather’, Liatris spicata, has tall, lilac-rose spike-shaped flowers with a fluffy appearance and dark green foliage. The flowers open from the top down and bloom from June to September. Liatris ‘Kobold’ has a plant height of 2’ and a spread of 12-18”. It does prefer a bit more moisture than most Liatris, but do not over water. Liatris ‘Kobold’ looks great as a perennial background, with grasses or white blooming flowers such as Physostegia ‘Miss Manners’. It is a major butterfly and bee attractor.

The Ligularia ‘Othello Leopard Plant’, Ligularia dentata, is a wonderful yellow-orange, daisy-like flower with huge leathery, toothed, heart-shaped, basal leaves. New leaves emerge purplish-red but turn to brownish-green. Blooming from July to August, ‘Ligularia Othello’ has a plant height of 2’ and a spread of 24-36”. It must have moist soil and should never be allowed to dry out. Use Ligularia in group or mass plantings, woodland gardens, or along streams, ponds, pools or bog gardens.
